Hailee and I took our 1st ever Girls Trip with my mom, sister and niece to Washington DC! Our SOLE purpose: American Girl Doll Store!! This was Hailee (turning 6 in July) and Sarah Grace's (turned 7 in April) birthday gifts! We planned this trip back in early spring as Hailee and SG are both so into their dolls and this world of American Girls! Hailee and I started reading some of the historical book sets of Felicity, Kit, and Molly. They are fiction, but true to history in that year. Some date back to the 1750's. It's been a great way to read to her and also teach her about history that I fear wont be taught much longer to this generation of children. We left the daddy's and little kids behind and left last Thursday at 6am! Our drive there was great and uneventful, however our drive back took 9 hours, but I'd do it all over agian becuase our trip was so wonderful! It's awesome to watch the pure innocence of a child revel in the magic of millions of dolls everywhere and be so excited and to feel the realness of a still-life doll ;) And because this blog is for my girls, I must brag on my sweet almost 6 year old who has been asking for about 6 months for a new doll that has blue eyes like hers and has thought she would buy one if she had the money...She had been saving and collected some early birthday money and on the way up there, she asked me how much money was SG bringing. I told her I wasnt sure and she said, "well, I want to buy a new doll with my money but if SG doesnt have enough money to buy one, I'm not going to becuase that wouldnt be fair to her!" Brian had told me months ago he wanted me to suprise her in the store by telling her she could buy a new doll, but we kept this secret from her. She has such a sweet heart to always think of others and how they would feel and even though her mommy thought it was a great lesson for her to use her own money on buying a new doll, after that comment, I knew that was also a great teaching moment to let her know how proud of her we were and b/c of that she could use her $100 on outfits and accessories and we would buy the doll! Having Mom-Mom with us was so special and I know she will forever hold close those sweet and precious moments we made together! It was such a great, releaxed, non-scheduled, do what we wanted trip! We came home broke, but worth every penny!

this was a common face all weekend as they received tons of suprises!
