Playing Hookie...

So, Tuesday we closed on our house in Knightdale (YEAH! 2 years later, it happened!) and I had to go to Raleigh that morning. I decided to take the girls out of school and bring them with me so we could make full use of a Groupon I bought this past summer to the Durham Museum of Life and Science and had not had a chance to use it yet and it expired on Wednesday! Part of the reason why I wanted to change jobs and work 3 days a week was so I could spend more time being involved with my children! So, my sweet friend, Jen, offered to sit with the girls while we signed all of our papers during the closing. We had lunch afterwards together, and then the girls and I hopped back in the car heading towards Durham to the museum for the day! We had a great day and learned a lot!
 Feeling Clouds

 Contraptions!
one of the coolest things we learned: these are germs on their hands, and you had to wash them in a sink beside this machine and then re-put them under the light to see how long it really took to wash germs off of your hands!
 Big Chair, little girl
 Working Hard
My other fave from the day: squirt sunscreen on your hand, then place it under a UV light and computer screen showed you how sunscreen protects your skin...
the black dot on the left is sunscreen, the one on the right is uv rays hitting her hand...once she rubbed it in, her whole palm was like black tar-not allowing the sun to penetrtate. of course, to the human eye, it didnt look like anything once she rubbed it in ;)
 Outdoor Music park
Hannah's photography skills outside of the Butterfly Conservatory
way too many bees for us, Hannah wouldnt even get near this glass enclosure
 Inside the butterfly house
A butterfly, resting on a flower, so graciously let H and H touch her ever so gently on her wing...they were amazed!

 Reflective Mirror
 Dinosaur Trails
Sliding down the dinosaurs!
A super fun day together!!
