The Little Gym calls their end of the semester performance Show Week to give each child an opportunity to show off what they've been learning! Hailee's time to shine was last Friday, Jan. 15 at 5:30! She was so excited and practiced her ballet and tap routines all week! Mom-Mom, Aunt Lulu, Mimi, and Papoo were all here for her big event and all was well until it was time to perform! They had the girls dance inside the gym on a wooden floor w/ all the parents sitting right in front of them as well as combining the three Jazzy Bugs/Giggle Toes classes-making for about 15 'new' bodies surrounding Hailee. It was a bit chaoctic as they wanted the dancers to do their routines 3 times-once to practice and warm up, once to show their skills of following directions and following their teachers through a routine, and then once on their own. Well, that was just too much and took to long to do for two different routines. Hailee performed her tap routine the 1st time as I'm just beaming ear to ear and cheering her own (silently!), even wiping a few tears off my face from the pure delight I had seeing my baby dancing, and then...it all went downhill! I noticed her starting to play with her face (what she does when she's nervous), try to hold back tears, point at me and mumble a few words, then completely stop dancing and stand there in tears. So, of course I ran up to the front (b/c it was very laid back...which is why we love TLG) and had her sit in my lap while the dancers finished their 2nd and 3rd round of the tap routine. Her instructor came over to encourage her to go stand with her and she would help her through her ballet routine. Well, bravely, she pulled it together, and did the ballet routine, and then they moved the front row dancers (which Hailee had been on) to the back to rotate all the girls to have a chance on front row. Well, she immediatley perked up and I think it started to become more familiar to her and the nerves were subsiding! Well, after the dance performance, it was time for the girls to show off 3 different areas in the gym and our little gymnast LIT up and was in front row showing off her skills! It was great to see her so happy and confident in what she knew! It went a little long and Hannah was just falling apart, so we cancled our dinner out plans and came home and put the girls to bed! It was a fun evening and appreciated the family being here for support...it was much needed! Enjoy the pics of our precious one that her Aunt Lulu so beautifully captured!
