Chore Chart

I did a lot of searching for a chore chart that I thought would be a good fit for my girls. I came across this http://makingtheworldcuter.blogspot.com/2010/06/toot-toot-tuesday-chore-system.html and loved the concept of not only the chores, but the tithing and saving of the money. We believe in giving 10% of our money back to God as stated in the Bible and want to teach that to our children. I had already started giving Hailee $0.10 for each chore she did, but we werent very consistent so I loved this as well because we didnt have to change the amount of money in teaching the new system! I made my own version while following some of her great ideas with the containers. I used poster board, velcro pieces, stamps, ink, ribbon, laminating sheets, scrapbook paper, $4-5 worth of dimes, 2 used peanut containers, one crystal light container, 2 pouches to put their money in, and some chipboard! We started this morning and so far things are going great! I am not pushing their chores on them, but they know that if they are up on the chart, its their responsibility to do the chore and if they dont, then they dont get a dime! Once they get $1.00, we'll show them how to put one dime into their tithe container (that we will use to give to our church or New Life Ministries we support for orphans in the Ukraine) and then one dime into each of their savings container that we'll put into their savings account in the bank once it gets filled up. I'm praying over this system for the girls and am excited to see how this will help them grow and become responsible around the house and with their money! They have 8 chores altogether and each night we will put up what their chores are for the next day (only 5 spots available per day). Hannah does her own scaled down version of some of the more difficult chores, but she insists on doing whatever big sister does so instead of color coating them for each girl, I just made all 8 of the chores for both of them. If one of them hasnt done the chore, then it doesnt get taken down and moved to the bucket. If one chooses not to do the chore, the other one can take it down if they've done the chore and put it in the bucket. I can repost whichever chore cards throughout the day if need be, i.e., taking dishes to the sink after mealtimes. It is posted on the inside of our pantry door so its hidden, but a perfect level and place for them to see it daily! Their chores include: getting dressed, brushing teeth/hair, making their bed, feeding Lexi, taking dishes to the sink after mealtimes, setting the table, help unloading the dishwasher, and picking up their toys.
