My "BIG KID"

Mrs. Collins is Hailee's Pre-K teacher and they call their class, the "Big Kid" class. They are the oldest kids in the school so they've earned the name ;). Well, my Big Kid is doing some pretty cool things in her pre-K class and has just Blossomed over the past few weeks in school. Our summer was pretty rough with some seperation anxiety, fears, and shyness from Hailee, so we were all a tad nervous about how she might do in school this year....BUT, the Lord has totally answered our prayers and she is gaining such self-confidence and her fears are going away! She feels, acts, knows, and is showing us in many ways how she is a "big kid!" Each day the students have to draw pictures of their classmates and are learning how to write all their friends' names. Once they got through everyone's first names, they've moved onto last names. Her teacher has made individual books for all the kids of each student's drawing of the "child of the day" and the book has all of her friends' drawings and writing of her name in it! She loves looking at it and reading her friend's names on the back of who has drawn her and written her name!
The pic on the left is the whole book of just "Hailee" and a friend drew this of her and the page on the right is from her "Wright" book and Hailee drew this of herself-they have be very specific to draw what colors they have on for that, accessories, etc! They also had their first project last week and it was on insects! All week we had to find insects outside, take pics of them, each night's homework consisted of something to do with insects, she's had to do math sheets counting them, etc. Her final project was of two insects that she saw...an ant and a beetle. She has done some amazing drawings of insects that they sent home and got her first A+ on a project!!! Talk about a mama being proud of her baby girl!!!!
This week they visted a horse farm, talked about farm animals, and are having a "Cowpoke Lunch" tomorrow with all the dads joining them dressing in full cowboy attire! She has learned how to draw a horse and is also learning some pretty cool termanology from her teachers on how to make letters, be efficient, write correctly, etc! They also get to take nature walks during the week and yesterday all the kids were sent home with something that apperantly is poisonous if ingested to humans, but cows and horses like...do you know what this is?? I surely didnt...it's an Osage Orange. It can also be called a Hedge Apple. But, its neither an orange nor an apple and apperantly produces a milk like substance inside that is used to make very hard wood and can be used for biofuel as well! It's also huge! Its about the size of a canteloupe.

We are so proud of her and the things she is learning and how well she's adjusted to her new class! She loves her girlfriends in there and is excited to go to school and learn everyday!
