Back on August 25th, Hailee started 1st grade! It was a special and sweet day for her and for some reason, mama had a ReaLLy hard day with it! She was so happy and excited about Kindergarten last year and even though she was nervous, she was OK for us to leave after she was settled- And her teacher was loving and hugged her, helped her find her seat and get her things out of her book bag, etc and so it was a surreal day knowing my little girl was gone to school all day, but I was ok. But leaving her on her 1st day this year was different..her teacher is not warm and loving, no personal contact, not many smiles, kids have their own individual desks, we were expected to know what to get out and put away, not many parents in the room, and then when it was time for me to say good bye, her tears started...but the kind of "big girl" tears that were staring back at me like "please don't leave me" but "I don't want to let anyone else know I'm crying." That was HARD!! Brian was encouraging me to leave, but she was sad and didn't know many kids in her 1st/2nd grade combo class, I was feeling like she was too little to be in that big kid kind of class, that LOOK she was giving me that only a mother and a her child know, and it was just hard on my heart. But, I left & knew the Lord was holding her and would protect her, and like the first day of K, I got the biggest hug when I picked her up at the end of the day and a smile on her face, and I knew she was OK. She is sensitive, but she is tough and determined! So proud of our 1st grader!
Facts of Hailee in 1st grade:
1. Loves Horses-riding 2x a month at Stillwater Farms
2. Started at GSO ballet every Monday in Ballet 1
3. Loves to play mommy/baby & school with Hannah
4. Loves swinging outside after school
5. Is reading 50-60 page books on her own
6. Loves art and is enjoying doing "2nd grade art!"
7. Goes to Awana on Wednesday's and is reciting a new verse each week
8.Gets up each morning to her alarm clock, gets dressed, makes her bed (sometimes before mommy is up!)
9. Highlight of her day is her daddy taking her to school and praying together in the car
10. Helps take Copper on walks
11. Still doesnt want to be outside or inside by herself
12. Has become quite a picky eater-still eats nothing spicy, no condiments, sauces, etc
13. Asks each night "where do you want to meet in dreams?"
14. Found out the Tooth Fairy was not real
15. Wants to be a teacher when she grows up
