Is there such a thing? Well, if you live in our household, absolutley! I noticed on Sunday that Hailee's beta fish, Dorothy, wasnt doing too well in her tank. The water was dirty and because I had been out of town all weekend, I wasnt sure if she had missed a meal or not, but nonetheless, I decided to change her water/bowl on Sunday night after the girls went to sleep and about an hour after putting Dorothy back into her tank, she died. This was Hailee's first official "pet" and so I was nervous about how she would handle the news, and yes, I even contemplated going to Petsmart and replacing her. But, Brian felt we should tell her the truth and so I gracefully told her Monday morning before she realized the lifeless fish in the tank, fully expecting bucket tears, and to my complete suprise, she handled it with much maturity! I'm tellin ya, my Big Girl is growing up. Her first words (after me explaining that sometimes fish dont live terribly long, they are sensitive to missing a meal or being overfed, living in a tank with dirty water isnt good for them, etc) were, 'mommy, did Dorothy go to fishy heaven?" My response: "Absolutley honey." So there, we believe in fishy heaven, where all the fish go and are now swimming around with all their fish friends. Her main ? was could we get her a new one and b/c she was so brave and handled her first death of a pet so well, we went straight after school today to get....you guessed it, Dorothy (#2 that is.) She is a tiny, baby female beta who is royal blue...beautiful! She checked on her all day to make sure she was ok and even blew her a kiss goodnight tonight. It is amazing to look at the size difference b/w the new Dorothy and Snow White and to see how big Snow White has gotten! True love all over again has happened with the newest member of the Wright family!
