Simple Blessings
We went to the lake this past weekend to close it up for the winter. I have been going to Smith Mtn. Lake for over 30 years now and there is never a time that I get there, walk in and smell the familiarity, open up the drapes and take a deep breath as the view, every single time, leaves me speechless. Whatever the season, rain or shine, it is a glimpse of glory. It is my favorite place on earth and to be able to share that joy and love that my children now have with the lake is priceless. This weekend the weather was gorgeous, ok seriously, that is an understatement. The sun glistened off the water all weekend, the trees blew and the wind sang through the air, and the beauty that was found in God's simple nature up there was enjoyed by all. We took Brian's sister, Chrissi, with us and we had a blast playing outside all weekend, finding the most gorgeous colors there are out right now, and exploring in the simple blessings that God puts right before our eyes daily. It was also great to see the girls embrace nature and play for hours upon end because that's what our new backyard is going to be like! The pictures dont do the scenery justice, and our hearts are so sad that we wont go back until the spring, but I will be waiting for that first trip back up there all winter long!
